Reasons We May Struggle

In my work with others, I've learned that most problems in living come down to some combination of repeating patterns, disconnection, automatic playlists in our mind,  lack of worth and coping skills that leave us feeling stuck or overwhelmed.

Repeating patterns are the ways in which we engage in relationships with others, ourselves and the world; the patterns are repetitive, so we see the same outcomes again and again though we may be hoping for something different.

Disconnection can be with people/community but also within ourselves. We can feel alone when we are suffering and misunderstood, which can lead to more isolation. We can also be disconnected from ourselves with a broken mind, body, heart connection and are no longer able to feel present in our lives.

Automatic playlists are the stories we tell ourselves (often called our inner critic) that hold us back from fully being present and experiencing in the now →  you’re not good enough, not smart enough, you don’t deserve. Do these sound familiar?? These are external voices that have been internalised.

Self love and worth,….You cannot give what you don’t have, you cannot receive if you don’t feel worthy (and you are worthy - just as you are!).

Coping skills are the skills you have worked to get you to where you are but don’t seem to be working anymore and, they may even be making things worse  - it’s like you're working with old tools in new situations and they just aren’t doing the job; it’s time to find new ones!

If this sounds familiar, you don’t have to keep living this way. And I’m guessing this is why you are here. So, let’s take a minute and acknowledge the vulnerable place you are stepping into and applaud your courage. We all deserve to live lives that are more enjoyable and easy.
