A Letter to My Mother

A quiet space to write something meaningful to your mother
in time for Mother’s Day.

Facilitated by Dr Natasha Ghosh, Therapist, TEDx speaker and documentary storyteller.

Mother’s Day can stir many feelings…love, gratitude, unfinished conversations, memories, and sometimes, things that were never spoken aloud.

This gentle workshop offers a quiet space to write a letter to your mother.
A chance to put into words what you wish her to hear, share what matters and to honour the relationship while there is still time.

Some letters will express gratitude.
Some will offer understanding.
Some will say the things that were difficult to say at the time.

The letters will say what’s in your heart.

You will be guided through a series of thoughtful prompts to help you begin writing at your own pace, in your own way.

What might you say if you had the space and time to write your mother a letter?

Why write a letter?

For many of us, there are things they would like their mother to hear.

As adults, we start to understand more about the lives they lived — the choices they made, the pressures they carried, and the things they tried to give us.

Writing a letter can be a way to express that perspective.

It allows space to:

• acknowledge the life your mother lived
• express gratitude or recognition
• say things that may never have been spoken
• honour the relationship in your own words

Mother’s Day can be an opportunity to pause and put those thoughts into words.

“When I was younger, I didn’t really see you, not the way I do now. Now I see how much you gave up, how many dreams you had to reshape, and how hard you worked to build a beautiful life for us.”

From my own letter to my mother…

What to expect

This is a reflective letter-writing workshop designed to help participants begin or deepen a letter to their mother in time for Mother’s Day.

During the session we will:

• begin writing a letter
• explore a few gentle prompts to get started
• reflect on memories and moments
• consider your mother’s life beyond her role

Participants will have space to write at their own pace.

Sharing with the group is entirely optional.

Letters do not need to be finished during the workshop.
The intention is simply to begin.

Who This Workshop is For:

This workshop may resonate with people who:

• would like to write something meaningful to their mother
• feel ready to reflect on the relationship with curiosity and openness
• sense there may be words they would like to express

This workshop is not designed as therapy or for processing acute trauma.

If your relationship with your mother currently feels overwhelming or unresolved, a one-to-one therapeutic setting may be a more supportive space for that work.

This workshop is intended as a reflective writing experience.
